It is a common misconception that sport science is only a backroom topic, especially when you consider the huge revenues that sports organisations posts and their commercial objectives. Sport is truly a big business, and their biggest investments are their athletes. So it would only make sense that a department who can sustain the availability, health and optimise the performance of this investments has a value that extends beyond the backroom.
