Kitman Labs tackles the AFL market with Port Adelaide

The Australian Football League’s top team, Port Adelaide FC, has partnered with Kitman Labs to optimise athlete performance and reduce injury risk. Port Adelaide, who has been using Kitman Labs since pre-season, boasts one of the best injury records in the AFL this season.

“With Kitman Labs, we can bring all of our athlete data together, creating a single view of player status that is communicated instantly to our entire coaching staff,” said Darren Burgess PhD, Port Adelaide’s current Head of High Performance, who will continue to consult to the Club as he takes up senior role at Arsenal ahead of their 2018 English Premier League season.

“This means we can make fast and objective decisions about performance and health with the same information in the hands of every coach, whether they are in the office, on the road, in the gym or on their way to the field.”

With Kitman Labs, Port Adelaide has been able to simplify monitoring athletes, consolidating data from multiple sources, analysing information, and communicating across departments. The club screens players daily, giving coaches a complete view of player status and wellbeing. That data is instantly available to coaches, alongside GPS, gym, and injury data, avoiding the need for manual data entry, data mining and one-off communications.

Stephen Smith, Founder and CEO of Kitman Labs, commented, “We are excited to team up with Port Adelaide, one of the most advanced teams in the world, and put our advanced technology and analytics to use to provide the insights needed to maintain the high levels of player availability and keep players at peak performance levels.”

Port Adelaide is the first AFL team to deploy Kitman Labs, which is in use at over 70 teams in 26 leagues on 5 continents.
