Women’s Super League clubs unlocking secret weapon to combat ACL injury crisis

With ACL injuries sidelining top players and research showing women footballers are up to six times more likely to suffer them, Women’s Super League clubs are turning to a powerful new resource: data.

In The Mirror, Beth Lindop explores how teams are partnering with Kitman Labs, whose CEO Stephen Smith believes the key to prevention lies in understanding the unique physiology and workloads of women athletes. Kitman Labs offers a 360-degree view of each player, helping clubs collect, connect, and act on critical health and performance data.

Smith also welcomes broader initiatives like UEFA’s women’s health panel and Project ACL from FIFPro and the PFA, calling them “enormous steps forward” in protecting the game’s top talent—and its future.
